Foster The Future Run

The 4th Annual Foster The Future 5/10K Run/Walk & Youth Wellness Festival is coming to Pasadena, California just south of the world famous Rose Bowl! Join us on January 12, 2019 for this is a wonderful wellness opportunity to help support the Journey House of Pasadena which provides transitional services to emancipating youth. Erzhan Smith, an emancipated foster youth, and his adopted family, Rita and Ryan Smith are the founders of this event. They are helping to champion youth wellness in the Southern California
Erzhan Smith and his parents, Ryan and Rita Smith, are the event’s founders. Erzhan’s background inspired him to support and raise awareness about deserving youth and organizations who embody the core principles that empower emancipated youth to become self-sufficient adults. Together, we can all help to champion youth wellness in Southern California.

This is a wonderful opportunity to help support emancipated foster youth. Proceeds from the race benefit Journey House, whose sole purpose is to assist emancipated foster youth to meet their independent living needs. Race Info

Course Description

Start and finish takes place on Arroyo Seco Trail just south of the Rose Bowl. It is a flat all trail course that takes people through the historic Arroyo Seco trail towards South Pasadena and then brings the participants back to the finish at the end of the trail by the Rose Bowl. Two water stations will be available throughout the course

Directions to Start:

Pets on a leash only and must start with their owners on the back of the line, with the strollers and parents. Slower runners/joggers start just behind the front group, which consist of 5-7 minute per mile runners. Look-out for young children who start with a sprint. Please make your way to the start at approximately 8:00 A.M.

Cover The Distance, Support The Cause
For those that choose the virtual run option: Choose your local community park and cover 5k (3.1 miles) or 10K (6.2 Miles) by using your favorite application (Map My Run, Garmin, Strava, Etc.). When you finish, take a photo and share your accomplishment on social media and feel free to tag us!

Registration Policy

Registrations costs are non-refundable after sale. While every effort will be made to conduct the event, the race will be postponed or canceled if the weather/conditions is judged to be hazardous to the safety of participants and spectators. Entry fees will not be refunded if the event is canceled.

Results booth will be near the late registration area. Finisher medals to ALL participants who finish the run/walk. Awards to top in each division.

Re-Usable Chip

Your packet will include a chrono track disposible chip and a bib.

Gear Check-Ins

Gear Check-in is available at entrance to event. You may store items inside at your own risk. Your bib number or name will be written down to check in items. Please do not leave any valuables there. We are not responsible for any loss of items.

Journey House Youth

Journey House was founded by Tim Mayworm in 1983 after seeing the many unmet needs that youth who have "aged-out" of the foster care experience. Journey House's doors have been open to youth for over 35 years, providing shelter, offering support, instilling hope, and giving every youth who comes through a place to call home.
